One Year.
That’s how long we’ve been working on It’s 9AM together.
A year ago, I got an email from Mailchimp.
They were raising their rates.
Again.
Suddenly, keeping a big list on that service just didn’t make sense.
I did some research to find an alternative and landed on Substack.
Which was new at the time.
Relatively new.
And it seemed to work great.
Finally, something I had dreamed up with a daily vlog/podcast plan called HEY IT’S CHRIS had some traction as It’s 9AM.
A daily post of ponderings packed with some nostalgia, talk of books, movies, running and memories of some good old days.
Some people loved it.
Some people hated it.
Which is par for the course of just about any endeavor in the world.
Love it or hate it, here we are, one year old and it feels like we should do something special.
Because part of the theme of It’s 9AM has been permission.
Permission to experiment, permission to try new things, permission to myself to Get After It and get IT done.
It being a completely subjective moving target that always seems just a little bit further than I can stretch.
Some of the things I considered discussing today was past posts that garnered the most emails.
Or what most people clicked through to read or see.
Every day between 3900 – 4100 people open and read It’s 9AM, which is 33% of the list of people who signed up for it.
I am told more read it, but Substack can’t capture data from some read through based on how it’s consumed.
4000 folks who’ve seen me lose access to the largest book selling platform in the world, and then watched as we built it back up.
Slowly.
Folks who have read almost 100 free short stories included in the posts.
Who have clicked through almost fifty more free stories.
4000 folks who should HIT SUBSCRIBE AND LIKE on Youtube Channel just to help a brother out.
Folks who have watched the business build up outside of Amazon on places like:
And the SQUARE website.
All places to go grab the next installment in SIX ONGOING SERIES:
With more out there and coming
Not to mention the whole Wild West Adventures and old fashioned mysteries.
We’re not done yet.
One of the things we get to talk about is growing different things:
Like turning a dying town into… something else.
Like not dying.
We’ve talked about rehabbing homes, and past plans never completed for new ventures.
There will be more of that.
We’ve talked about business ideas anyone can start on their own with little to zero money.
There will be more of that too.
Pulling the trigger on the Giveaway Channel.
Pulling the trigger on the Banjo, finally.
Plus more books, more stories, more videos, and more plans.
Planning is my favorite.
