How Do You Beat The Heat?

The heat is hot!

Of course, being called heat, we wouldn’t expect it to be cold, would we?

No, this is the thick, wet, feels like walking through cotton candy kind of heat.

The kind that’s hard to breathe, even hard to think.

It’s a good time to stay inside and read a good book!

Unless you happen to be headed up to NorthWest Arkansas for a baseball tournament.

We’ve got two games on Saturday in the middle of the day.

It’s going to be hot!

Lucky, we have a lot of water and more than a few Gatorades, and a what will hopefully be a cold hotel room to go to after.

We usually stay for a game or two after ours is done because we enjoy it.

To prepare for the tournament, we had practice twice this week.

Once the sun starts going down, the breeze picks up and it becomes perfect, or as close to perfect as an evening can get.

I expect some of that this weekend.

Sitting around the pool with something cold to drink, the parent friends laughing and joking, the kids splashing and screaming.

I think we all need a little more of that in our life.

Can you imagine how well the world would get along if you put all the leaders, their wives and kids together for a warm summer evening of fun and fellowship?!?

I think, maybe, you can’t help but be a better person doing that.

Laughter is the best medicine and it’s time for a double dose.

It may not be baseball. It can be whatever you like.

But if you take any advice this week, it is this.

Do something for you, something that brings you joy. Etch a smile on your face and remember this, you deserve it.

You earned it.
