Where are all the homeless people, she asked.
San Diego had them by the hundreds.
Not just encampments that covered city sidewalks.
Derelict RV's and vans parked next to the sand everywhere.
They are there I said.
Maybe not parked around the stadium where security is tight.
A lot over in Santa Monica where we won't have time to go before our flight back.
But they are there.
LA is expensive but the weather is perfect.
Warm days. Cool nights. And an atmosphere that feels almost electric with possibility.
That could just be the smog.
There are almost as many cars as people and all SOV.
Single occupied vehicle.
We had the HOV to ourself.
High Occupancy Vehicle.
Watching the headlights dance on the 10 from 32 stories up looked like a living thing.
Where were they all going at 10 at night?
Traffic and smog and trash and problems.
And still it feels like this is where magic could happen.
I wonder if it is because they built a city out of the desert and made it grow by adding water?
I don’t think my tax and track import the immigrants and move them to the dying Delta program would work with the homeless.
Too many of them are from there and came here and didn’t catch their dreams.
No mojo in their magic.
Wheels up at 5 and a three hour drive once we land.
That makes the plan to be almost back to normal tomorrow after another late night.
Back to the routine of the day to day.
Except maybe…
We will take a little of the magic feeling back with us.
And when we do I promise to share.
Oh boy, I hope your not too bothered by my home state, granted down south is down south, if you swung by the central area you may like it a little bit more, not by much lol.
