Time for some housecleaning.
But first:
Take 30 seconds to listen to this song and let me know what you think in the comments! (I think it’s pretty darn good)
Now:
I’ve always wanted a maid.
Do you remember Alice from the Brady Bunch?
She lived in a room off the kitchen, snuck her butcher boyfriend in after dark, and took a lot off the plate of a stay at home Mom.
I wanted an Alice.
Or Rosie.
I read somewhere once that if you can pay someone to do it for less than you make (per hour), then get it off your plate and focus on making money or earning more.
Or if you hate it, source it out so you don’t deal with that non-joy in your life.
I don’t know if I would say I hate housework.
I mean, I wouldn’t say it.
But I feel like there are better things to do.
Except, I do almost all the housework.
Sweep. Mop. Vacuum. Cook. Clean. Wash dishes, wash clothes.
All the house, all the yard.
Except for dusting.
I don’t do dusting.
And I don’t put away clothes. I’ll wash, dry, fluff and fold, but I don’t put anyone’s clothes away.
Maybe I do it all because I’m frugal.
Or maybe I don’t make enough yet to pass it all off.
Or I’m a control freak who would rather do it myself.
Could be I check all the boxes?
I’d pass off yard work to get back four hours a week.
My allergies get activated when I’m mowing, and I don’t really garden flowers.
I’d have to do the mulch and edging before I passed it off though.
I wouldn’t want a landscape guy to think I didn’t know what I was doing.
Same goes for the house.
A deep spring clean before letting someone in to clean it.
Ha!
I remember when I’ve sold houses, and prepped it for new owners.
On my knees, scrubbing baseboards, hitting spots I never touched while I lived there.
I’d make a place I was never going to live in again sparkle and shine.
We did get a Roomba, so I have a partial Rosie.
Did you know you have to clean a Roomba too?
Not just dump the dust collection tray, but wipe off the parts, and cut/clean the dog hair from the brush rollers.
A robot designed to take sweeping off my list of things to do just pushed an item over.
I still do the swifter on the hardwoods, cause dog and kid.
Then I run the Roomba some days, and have to clean it.
Sigh.
Housework.
One of those never ending tasks of adulthood that no one bothers to tell you about when you’re thinking you want to grow up.
I have a friend who is in logging.
More than one from Lower Arkansas.
They recommend using paper plates, because they harvest wood that turns into paper products.
It would save on the dishes. But fill the landfill.
Everything is a trade off.
Including cleaning newsletter lists.
So here’s where I ask for a favor.
Or favors. A trade, if you will.
If you read a book of mine, and enjoyed it, could you leave a review? Even a few words help other readers just like you.
If you got more than one free book, you might be on more than one newsletter list.
I try to keep them separated by genre.
Some people only want sci fi, some people don’t want zombies, etc. etc.
I’m migrating everything onto a new service over the next month.
So if you get more than one email, first, check the links. I have different books in each email (by segment).
Next, click unsubscribe at the bottom of the email. That’s the easiest way.
Speaking of segments, I have plans for MONDAY THURSDAY and FRIDAY newsletters.
Magic Monday
Thriller Thursday
And Sci Fi Friday.
It’s 9AM is still going to go out daily, but with a few changes. I need about 100 upgraded subscribers to keep it viable. I have 10.
My fault because I give so much away that folks get trained not to pay for stuff.
Even when I put out new books, I get emails telling me they’ll wait.
The one constant you can rely on is change is gonna come.
It’s time to make some new memories together.
