Saturday –
These days are kind of special.
Or are supposed to be.
It starts with a drive over to Mississippi.
We have tryouts for a National Team this weekend and are all but guaranteed a spot.
But we still have to show up and work, because there’s a kid out there who is doing more.
#10 knows it, and he’s ready.
Back late on Sunday, which makes me feel like another weekend is gone in a flash in a month that is close to halfway over.
We will blink and it’s Halloween.
Don’t take a nap or you’ll wake up at Christmas!
Part of the racing clock feeling is wanting to get more done.
Better faster.
I got started on a new Mil Sci Fi series for you this week.
The Star Spangled Invasion series.
Combines 2 things I know a lot about. A dad hunting for his kids and fighting aliens from outer space.
Chewing gum. Kicking ass.
You get it for your support of It’s 9AM.
But today, how about:
SINGLE WIDE – a thriller
SADDLE TRAMP – a western adventure.
Upgraded subscribers just got 2 free books, and even more planned.
Consider joining the club at It’s 9AM.
With more next week.
Until then, I appreciate you.
Chris
PS. THANK YOU if you bought me a cup of coffee last week. I’m going to send you a book to show my appreciation. (give me a day or so because I’m on the road.)
PPS. Here’s Chapter One of Galactic Dawn. It’s a work in progress, so forgive some mistakes.
"Galactic Dawn"
Prologue - Coalition's Dilemma
The stars of the galaxy shimmered like diamonds against the velvet canvas of space, bearing silent witness to the turmoil below. The Coalition, an alliance of planets bound by common purpose, faced its greatest challenge yet: the enigmatic Veridian threat.
Lyra Castell, a determined diplomat with fiery red hair and piercing green eyes, stood before a holographic table at the heart of the Coalition command center. Her voice resonated with authority as she addressed the assembly of planetary leaders.
"The Veridians grow bolder with each passing day," Lyra stated, her words cutting through the tense silence. "Our intelligence indicates that they possess technology surpassing anything we've encountered."
Across the table, Caelum Voss, a former Coalition engineer turned enigmatic resistance leader, leaned forward. His dark eyes carried a hint of defiance as he locked gazes with Lyra.
"Our sabotage operations have proven effective," Caelum said, his voice tinged with conviction. "But the Veridians are adapting. We need a united front."
Gavran Telon, a charismatic diplomat from a neutral civilization, spoke next. His silver hair glinted in the holographic light as he addressed the assembly.
"Our people have suffered due to Veridian attacks," Gavran emphasized. "We need a clear strategy to counter their aggression."
Lyra nodded, acknowledging the concerns of her allies. "We must find a way to reveal their intentions to the galaxy. To forge a bond strong enough to resist their invasion."
As the debate raged on, a holographic projection displayed the Veridian fleet's ominous presence at the galaxy's edge. A chilling reminder of the threat they posed.
Alex Thorn, a daring starship pilot and member of the renowned Starborne Squadron, watched the discussion with a mix of anticipation and skepticism. The captain's dark complexion and intense gaze hinted at a storied past.
"Enough talk," Alex interjected, their voice commanding attention. "We need actions, not words. We have the finest pilots and ships at our disposal. Let's use them to show the Veridians that we won't stand down."
Lyra exchanged a glance with Alex, recognizing the fire in their eyes. "Alex is right. It's time to act."
A holographic map revealed the planets recently devastated by Veridian attacks. Coalition leaders exchanged grim expressions, their determination solidifying.
Lia Arden, a resourceful and quick-witted member of Caelum's resistance, leaned in to Gavran. "We need to strike now, while we still have a chance."
Gavran's gaze met Lia's, and a silent understanding passed between them. It was a unity born of shared suffering and a common enemy.
As the assembly continued, the room's atmosphere was charged with urgency. Planetary leaders, diplomats, pilots, and strategists—all driven by the shared goal of halting the Veridian advance.
"Their leader remains a mystery," Lyra said, her voice carrying a note of determination. "We need answers, and we need them quickly."
Caelum's gaze met Lyra's, and their silent exchange spoke volumes. They were two individuals from vastly different worlds, united by the conviction that their galaxy's survival depended on their combined efforts.
Amidst the tension, Alex Thorn's voice echoed through the room, cutting through the uncertainty like a laser beam. "It's time to make a stand. The galaxy won't fall without a fight."
And as the holographic map of the galaxy's star systems illuminated the room, the coalition of civilizations prepared to face an enemy that threatened not just their homes, but the very essence of their existence. The galaxy held its breath, awaiting the dawn of a new era—an era that would test the limits of courage, unity, and the unyielding spirit of those who dared to defy the darkness.
