Warmer weather means grilling and while everyone has their favorite sauce, Arthur’s was “The Best.”
Nothing out of a bottle can compare and trust me, I’ve tried.
A coast to coast search turned up some good contenders, but nothing that comes close to the memories of this sauce.
It was a special treat, like Bonanza, and reserved for celebrations and some Sunday afternoons.
Mamaw loved to cook for her family, but even busy grandma’s need some time off and Arthur’s was a go to.
Or a go get and bring back for a patio picnic.
It’s gone now, but memories of the place don’t go away and die hard fans share the “secret” family recipe and the hope of getting that taste in their mouth.
I’m sharing with you because once it crosses your lips, you will feel joy and be elevated.
And if not quite that, you will know what some down home BBQ is supposed to taste like.
Brush on chicken, pulled pork and burgers. I use as a side for steak on occasion.
Just do not pour it on your ice cream! That is not a good mix.
Don’t ask me how I know.
What’s your favorite secret family recipe?
