It's 9AM
We were out of creamer this morning.
I use butter a lot, and sometimes just black.
It depends on my mood.
But a mood struck me this morning to try something new.
I melted 1/3 cup butter in a mason jar.
Added 2/3 cup milk and some sugar.
And shook.
Like Jerry Lew Lewis on a double shot of espresso.
There was a whole lot of shakin going on.
Until it solidified.
Then I scooped slushy almost whipped cream into my coffee cup and poured black gold on top of it.
Not Texas tea, the other black gold.
It made me wonder if I could make my own flavors of creamer going forward.
Just add a little extract for flavor.
So something more to experiment with.
I’ve got a lot that I want to try.
Not just coffee, but cakes to go with them.
I’ve told you before I love cooking for folks I love, and I had an incredible teacher.
Baking falls under that same banner.
I’m pretty good at it.
Except…
I live with a couple of folks who do not like sweets.
So if I bake a cake, I have to eat it.
Most of it.
They are nice enough to try small slices.
But it’s too cold to run too far, at least for this Florida trained hoofer.
So eating an almost whole cake means finding a way to exercise around the house.
Or run on a treadmill at the gym.
Which means I can try…
Coke Cake.
Take one box of chocolate cake mix, add one 12 ounce can of Coca Cola and bake as directed.
Or Strawberry Fanta Cake. Strawberry cake mix with a can of Fanta.
The “plan” is to film making it for the Youtube cooking channel, where I hope to add the few hundred recipes I’ve saved over the years to try.
Root Beer and Devils Food Cake.
Dr. Pepper and German Chocolate.
I also was sent a recipe for a King’s Cake for Mardi Gras that I’m hoping to get time to make.
Cold weather days are great for reading.
They’re also good for cooking too.
Or baking, if you are an exact word type of person.
And if I film and edit it, cold days are good for working too.
Which reminds me to remind you about something new for you to do too.
(do me a favor, read that sentence again)
If you have a business, or want to start one, someone gave me some advice you should follow;
Go Live on Youtube, Tik Tok, Twitch and just stream WHILE you do it.
Break the fourth wall every so often.
I tried live on Youtube for an hour a year ago and got exactly 0 views.
But…
I got distracted and pushed it to the back burner and didn’t try it again, despite moments of reminding myself to do so.
My first video on Youtube got 2 views.
My biggest got 13,500 and growing.
The one from last week had 4.
Who knows how many the next one will have.
So if it starts slow, just know, you can grow.
Let’s plan to grow together this year.
And if you don’t have a business, then just steal the recipes.
And if you don’t cook, curl up with a good book.
