It's 9AM
I made a mistake.
That’s okay, I make a lot of mistakes.
But this one should have a happy ending.
Because I learned another lesson.
I’ve built a couple of networks of people I know doing things I like.
Except…
I did it backwards.
I should have been building a network of people with extra cash or money to invest with or in people I know doing things I like.
Because as it often happens, knowing a lot of people doing interesting things puts opportunity right in front of you.
When the time is right.
But if you don’t know people with money, it can be difficult to get in on opportunity and level up.
A good example of this is last year.
In January, I told anyone who would listen to put some dollars in Amazon stock.
I did.
It was trading in the low 90’s, and I thought it might go up.
An easy bet, since stocks have been going up for the past twenty years.
And Amazon had traded at 3000 per share before a stock split cut it in fourths.
I did not own it then.
Much to my chagrin.
But I said by Summer, it’s going to be up.
And watched it do a steady climb to 129, where it hovers today.
Not much, just a $40 buck pop.
Plus who had $90k sitting around to buy 1000 shares?
Still, not a bad deal, and I just got it by paying attention.
If you are paying attention know, Wal Mart would be some place to park some money through 2024.
It’s not just stocks though.
I met a guy selling some land, who would owner finance it.
I wanted to grab it, put up some camping spots and rent it out for the solar eclipse party going on next year.
A couple of weekends clearing out space, stacking up wood, building campfire rings and scheduling porta potties would put twenty people in the woods for a weekend.
Not enough to retire on, but paying for the land for a couple of months, long enough to add a few A frame cabins and turn it into a weekend getaway for romantics.
Again, not enough for a full time business, but a good side hustle that wouldn’t take too much time.
Plus I could film setting up the campsites, then building the A Frames and make a Youtube channel out of it for more monetization opportunities downstream.
But, I didn’t have the down payment he wanted and we couldn’t reach an agreement.
And I don’t have family I can ask for money, not anymore.
So I search.
For other ways and methods.
Because another thing I’ve learned is that if you are constantly on the look out for opportunity, it keeps coming your way.
In the meantime, I can learn.
I can study how to build a team for finance.
Instead of the network I have built.
