It's 9AM
Two weekends in, two tourneys down and two new first place finishes to add to the list.
But more important than that…
The learning opportunity.
Some days are better than others, and some weekends things work well.
It felt like this was not one of them.
The morning started too cold.
Anything below 50 feels too cold for baseball.
But the sun came out and warmed us up through one too easy game and one game that we ended up losing.
Lucky for us, we had enough runs in the game one that it kept us in the number one spot, because a lot of other teams had the same win-loss record.
A bunch of 1-1 teams meeting up on spring ahead Sunday under sixty degree skies.
And this was our first AB. At Bat.
It’s not a blooper.
Now watching this, one might think this kid is outclassed.
Playing up has advantages, namely just getting better every year you play.
Even if it doesn’t look like it.
Yet…
The numbers don’t lie.
A few more AB’s got a single, a double, and a walk. The next game was two doubles and a dropped third strike where he beat out the throw to the base. (another blooper posted up on the channel)
By the numbers,
despite no home runs,
no ESPN showcase moments,
no standing O’s for a spectacular play,
it was a textbook stellar weekend.
The numbers show it.
RBI’s, and stolen bases, and times across the plate, it was, after all was said and done and recorded, a really good weekend for number 10.
And the ring doesn’t matter.
Even the W isn’t all that important, because we start from 0 again next Saturday in another tournament.
What matters is learning how to get up, stay up and keep up, even when you knock yourself down. (click subscribe and keep up)
Plus maybe don’t stay up til midnight playing Fortnite with your baseball buds on the night we lose an hour off the clocks!
Which is good advice for all of us.
