I told you two years ago, I said.
She didn’t remember.
I’m not sure you will either.
There are some things I’m allowed to talk about.
Allowed is not the right word.
There are some subjects that are met with the words “I don’t care.”
Which is a good way to help me save my breath.
I can discuss many things at length.
Often this is because I am well read on a variety of topics.
And because I ask a lot of questions about things I don’t understand.
I told you about Gary Vee and his NFT collection.
People who bought one of his NFT drawings got entry to an annual conference, first dibs on new merchandise and other bonus items, like business advice in groups.
If you are a business owner, aspiring creator, etc, Gary Vee has great advice and getting to spend one on one time with him is a good bonus.
Especially since his message is “Kindness above all else.”
His NFT collection are characters he created to promote concepts like kindness, patience, etc.
And he told everyone at the time that he was creating an “IP” that he wanted to make as popular as Disney or 80’s cartoons.
That’s what he grew up with, and phrases like “Knowledge is Power” came from GI Joe, and “I have the Power,” from He-Man.
The 80’s were about a lot of power.
I’ve also discussed AI and how it’s evolving, and have shared a stance with him on it.
Every time a new technology comes out, people talk about how bad it is, how bad it will be, and how it will ruin the world.
Which it will.
Ruin the world as we know it and disrupt the status quo.
Horse guys hated the automobile, Car guys hate the EV, TV is going to ruin kids, Cell phones are going to ruin towns, and don’t forget Rock and Roll.
For every advance in just about anything, there are a whole layer of naysayers.
And NFT’s were no exception.
When I talked about them, I got emails telling me they were a scam.
And when scams happened, I got emails telling me they were right.
Yet…
Not a single email about the bank collapses and the government using tax dollars to bail them out.
The bank executives, not the people using the bank.
But before I digress on how almost anything can be a scam and can be viewed through a lens that shows how evil, bad and “not good for the world” it can be, let’s shift over to AI.
The applications for it are going to be astounding and it will change your life, just like the cell phone did.
Maybe more.
Like me.
I used AI to animate a post from It’s 9AM and got super excited at the results.
Why?
Because by summer, that 2 minute video will be able to render up to 30 minutes.
And 30 minutes is a television show on a Youtube Channel.
All done via text to video.
Which is what Gary Vee is doing with his Vee Friends.
The NFT collection has evolved to a toy line for Toys R Us, and he just announced a new endeavor.
The Vee Friends are becoming their own animated series on Youtube.
And I bet, when AI expands more in November, Vee Friends will release a Christmas movie, or holiday movie.
By next year, using that data from Youtube to show what kids are watching (the algorithm) popular characters will have their own spin off series.
And all of it will have attached merchandise.
Which is awesome.
Because I think about how I can use it for the books I’ve written.
Some people like urban fantasy, but it’s difficult to get right on screen.
What if (using AI and data) a version is made, and can be corrected, updated and modified based on feedback to create a better show?
Better being relative, of course.
There is a movie called DAMSEL on Netflix that is number one and critics love it.
I had to stop twenty minutes in because it was just so… slow.
Which goes to show…
People like what they like, when they like it, and not everyone will like everything.
It’s me.
I’m people.
But I’m making a prediction now.
This time next year, if we’re all still here, we’ll see AI movies from indie filmmakers on every platform AND in two years, we’ll have the first AI project nominated for an Oscar.
Probably a historical documentary short.
Written from the surviving writings of slaves or women in the early 1900’s.
Some folks will like it. Some won’t.
But that’s the thing about progress.
It happens no matter who you feel about it.
