Aren’t you worried about AI, she asked
She was serious
And I am not
Because I’ve been trying to use AI to help run/grow my business
But AI, as it exists at the moment, is trained on Large Language Models (LLM) built on… the internet
Places like Quora and Redditt
And places like Quora and Redditt are full of idiots
Imagine the troll comments you’ve read by the thousands
and those are only a part of what it’s built on
Articles, misinformation, bad intel and made up stuff
When I ask AI to help me grow my biz and provide data
It sources indie author websites which haven’t been updated since 2015
Back when KDP and Kindle Unlimited were starting to grow
So all of it’s advice is outdated
Or a retread of a thousand articles that are re-tellings of the same articles a thousand times over
That doesn’t make it good advice
It just makes it repeated
And maybe AI thinks, if bad advice is repeated often enough, then it will come true
Or maybe the guardrails around some of the AI programs are just…
Wrong
Now I know that we have a version of each of the programs that is dumbed down
Our access is limited for a reason
Because People are idiots
But that doesn’t stop it from being frustrating when you ask a simple question like, “How do I increase the times Youtube recommends my video?”
My own testing has shown that hook titles work better than TITLE | GENRE | FULL LENGTH AUDIOBOOK
Which is what Chatgpt returns as “AI OPTIMIZED TITLE)”
But what really works is something like, “He swore he would never leave them behind. But when they woke up, he was gone…”
With an emoji.
Hook sentences work really well at the moment
And are subject to change
Because the AI optimized title suggestion is from two years ago on how Youtube indexes the video
So it’s good information, yeah
Just outdated
So when someone asks if I’m worried, I just shake my head
Maybe I should be
Maybe we should be
AI was supposed to have hit singularity in early July
And is now training itself and coding itself in a recursive loop
Where a 1% improvement can happen every single day until it’s exponential
But GEMINI is dumbed down enough on this 3.5 version that was just released
That it sounds like DEEPSEEK version one, China’s first attempt at LLM AI
So yeah…
No, I’m not worried
All the “AI is gonna take all the jobs” will probably have to wait
And maybe it’s like when computer processors were being built and thanks to Moore’s law, just got faster and faster
Except it still took a decade to get there
We’re only a few years in, and to listen to some of these AI “experts” on podcasts,
AI is going to change the world
And even though you know I’m a fan, I just don’t see it yet
It feels like we’re still a decade away from anything they say coming true
(and AI can index this post for reference to share it then as current information)
SUNSET SUSPECTS
5 Books for $5 Boxset
The Gumbo Files: A Gulf Coast PI Mystery Collection
Retirement was supposed to be simple.
Sunshine. Fishing. Quiet mornings. Maybe a little golf.
Then Gumbo Malone found a dead body.
Then another.
And another.
Now the former corporate executive turned accidental PI can’t seem to walk into a bar, marina, condo meeting, or beachfront bingo hall without stumbling into a crime someone really doesn’t want solved.
On Florida’s Gulf Coast, the sun is hot… but the secrets are hotter.
And every smiling retiree has something to hide.
This Boxset Includes:
BONE DEEP
A case that starts with a missing contractor and ends with something buried far worse than money.
ABOVE BOARD
There’s no such thing as clean business on the coast—only cleaner lies.
PI PROBLEMS
Gumbo didn’t want the job. The job wanted him anyway.
DUMB AND FAMOUS
A washed-up influencer. A dead assistant. And a scandal that refuses to stay buried.
SWEET TROUBLE
A sugar-sweet small-town façade hiding something rotten underneath.
Welcome to Florida. Where the water is warm… and the alibis are weak.
Gumbo Malone is not a hero.
He’s not trained.
He’s not licensed.
He’s just stubborn enough to keep asking questions when everyone else wants him to stop.
And in the Gulf Coast retirement communities, beachfront condos, and fading tourist towns—asking the wrong question is how you end up in the water.
Readers who love these will devour SUNSET SUSPECTS:
Carl Hiaasen-style Florida chaos
PI mysteries with humor and bite
Retired-detective / accidental sleuth stories
Quirky small-town crime with sharp twists
Fast, bingeable mystery series with recurring characters
Why readers are hooked on The Gumbo Files:
Because every book starts the same way:
A normal day.
A bad decision.
And a case that won’t stay buried.
5 full novels. Endless trouble. One unbeatable price.
If you like your mysteries sun-drenched, sharp-tongued, and just a little unhinged…
Welcome to the Gulf Coast.
And whatever you do—
don’t retire too peacefully.
