I ran seven miles on Saturday.
It was almost eighty degrees and packed with hills.
I walked those.
Ran the flats.
Ten years ago, I could get up from the couch and run 26.2 miles.
Five years ago, I could do 13.1
Today, I did just over 7.
I probably could have added three more just through grit and tenacity.
And paid for it on Sunday.
But warmer weather and wind on my face made Saturday the perfect day to start.
Over.
Again.
I don’t run in winter much.
Though it’s on the agenda to start.
An accident ten years ago left me with a gift from the gods.
An eight inch metal rod in my lower leg that hurts when it gets below fifty degrees.
And running on it makes it hurt more in cold weather
In the classic vein of don’t do it if it hurts, I don’t run as much in the winter.
So spring gets me going, and perfect days get me going more.
They seem so rare, until…
You decide you like rainy gloomy gray days because they’re good for curling up with a book.
I curled up with the new JD KIRK MYSTERY after my run so I could “recover.”
Though while I was gone, six items were added to my honey do list.
One of which was cleaning the gutters, which I did, and maybe it was the up and down the ladder a hundred times that made me sore.
More sore than running.
Or maybe it was cleaning out a corner of the garage and moving boxes into the attic.
Up the attic ladder.
Thirty two times on sore legs.
The one item I couldn’t tick off the list was “fix the volume on the TV in the guest room.”
The Arkansas/Florida game was playing on SEC network, and we had it on in the guest room.
The sound started and five minutes in, went mute.
I couldn’t figure out why.
Checked settings.
Unplugged all the plugs.
Deleted and downloaded the Fire TV app with the Firestick.
Restarted everything more times than I can count.
Check RCA website for who’s and why’s and how’s.
Tried them.
None worked.
Lucky, this TV is a first world problem.
It’s in a room we don’t use all that often to watch television.
All that often means I can’t recall the last time we used it.
It’s just funny that the volume stopped and we don’t know why.
I said that TV might become a wall monitor with a calendar and schedule uploaded from a drive, and make us look all advanced and fancy.
She said “FIX IT” is still on the list.
Which just goes to show.
Even on perfect days, not all things seem perfect.
