I made cookies today.
It’s such a simple recipe and it takes five minutes.
Well, fifteen because you have to cook them.
I used to make them with my youngest daughter.
Now I make them for the 7 year old. He doesn’t want to make them with me, just eat them.
Take one cup of peanut butter. Mix with one cup of sugar and one egg. Microwave twenty seconds and stir.
Drop on a cookie sheet and cook for 12-14 minutes at 350 degrees.
I had to look up the recipe once when my daughter said she wanted cookies and I didn’t want to go to the store to get the ingredients.
We had a little experience from protein ball drops, which are honey, peanut butter and oatmeal with chocolate chips stirred together and dropped on a plate or sheet to cool.
They’re both pretty good with milk.
It’s November today. Christmas is fast approaching and before that Turkey Day.
I always want to cook more when it gets colder. I blame my grandmother.
I watched her cook so much and then I was on my own and the only way to eat was to learn how to cook.
Chili is a specialty. As is steak. Most of the meals I make are simple with a twist.
Like wine glazes, or balsamic reductions for flavor.
Or unique spices. Or salt.
I cover the raw steak with a salt crust and let it sit on the counter for a few hours before I grill it. Rinse off all the salt and pat dry, then slap on the grill to taste.
I watched a show about cooking and they made a spicy tomato sauce. People go nuts over it as an appetizer. They dip fresh bread in it.
Makes me want to try it. Probably for a cold afternoon dreary day comfort.
Like cookies. Cookies are always a comfort.
Try it.
If you are having a bad day, have a couple cookies and I bet your day will instantly get better.
You can’t have a bad day and cookies.
