If This Doesn’t Make You Smile, Are You Dead Inside?
Wait for it.
What if we waited until tomorrow?
Procrastination is an art form. Gary Vee says it’s a sign.
An indicator that you do not enjoy what you are doing.
He also says is something doesn’t make you happy, don’t do it.
Good advice. Hard to implement.
Putting off until later gives time for other things to happen.
And in a world where everything feels like it’s spinning out of control sometimes, waiting is surrendering.
Why put off until tomorrow what you can do today.
It feels like an old farmer’s adage.
Does it mean there’s always work to be done, so don’t get behind?
Does it mean stop waiting for things to move in and control you, instead of taking charge and controlling the day?
What if tomorrow never comes?
What would you leave undone?
I think about this in planning estate IP for my kids, and their kids.
I own enough Intellectual Property that could set them up for the rest of their lives.
Except they don’t know how to use it, and I haven’t set up a plan for them to work with someone to do it.
I have over one hundred stories sitting, waiting to be worked on. A hundred audio books, paperbacks, hardcovers, plus film/tv rights waiting to be exploited.
I’ve got six big non-publishing projects sitting, waiting for me to pull a trigger. Six more media projects stacked up after that.
I’ve got plans for cities, and mayors and other businesses, all waiting to be executed or acted upon.
Sitting. Waiting.
Which means I’m giving up control of those things I don’t act on.
Which means I am, in essence, out of control.
What happens to an out of control car?
An out of control runner, cyclist, or train?
An out of control budget sinks companies, an out of control economy goes haywire.
An out of control mind?
It gets medicated.
What do you do when the world feels out of your control? What do you do when the storms of life sweep over you?
I’ve got my solutions, but they may not be right for you.
Control what you can.
Discard the rest.
Which is hard.
I can’t control how the world reacts but I can control my reaction.
Remind me of that in traffic the next time my needle rockets to red and I start yelling at other drivers.
I can control ass in seat and fingers on keyboard. I can control putting work out in the world, and seeing what hits.
I can control what I do, how I do it, and who I do it with just by starting.
Write an email. Tweet. Call. Create. Build. Work.
Repeat.
That should be enough to make a difference.
And ask a question.
Are you?
Are you making a difference?
You can make a difference with me.

I got it on Prime Days at a super discount, and thought it would be just okay.
Back up just a little bit. I normally drink a pot of drip coffee every morning, just nursing the cup while I GET AFTER IT.
When I started staying with my brother, he didn’t have a coffee maker.
I told him I’d go grab one from Wal Mart, or just have Amazon deliver it in the next day or so.
I mean, I can go a weekend without the java. It’s not like an addict or anything.
But my brother being who he is, took his brood of four kids and his girlfriend’s duo out for a day of summer shenanigans and when they came home later that night, he had a Keurig.
He told me he liked coffee too and he needed a new one since his old one stopped working.
After watching him make his coffee, I can safely say he didn’t need a coffee maker because he just adds a drip to his creamer and sugar.
But as for me, I roll through 4 K-pods on most days, and miss the drip.
I have found a couple of bargains that tasted pretty good, but this one I like. Good flavor, despite being a pod.
I hate thinking “good enough” because I’ve spent a lot of time in that mindset where if something is “good enough” I can tolerate it.
I’ll grab a new coffeemaker when I get out on my own in the next few weeks, and get back to drinking a pot of hot brew.
Til then, I’ll see if I can make a bar tale or two from this batch.
Would be really good to make a pot and curl up with:
