Silver frost turned the grass into a crystal carpet.
29 degrees this AM.
Winter is coming.
Until Thursday when it’s 70.
The roller coaster weather notwithstanding, tis the season of giving.
And I ponder what I can give more of this month.
December, which is mere days away.
My hope is you had a good Turkey day and played the gratitude game until you were so stuffed you couldn’t move.
We are entering the end game of the year, which is a good time to reflect.
Are you where you want to be?
Have you done what you hoped to do?
Did you accomplish what you wanted?
Or move the needle closer to where you need it?
I know there were setbacks.
There always are.
Some people call them problems, but to me, it’s a solution.
An answer that “this is not the way” to do it.
It is a way of learning, albeit not always a fun way to get a lesson.
And the roller coaster ride of trying to get it done can play hell on your emotions.
Highs and lows.
Tops and bottoms.
Which is why I hope you practice gratitude.
The more you practice, the better you get.
Someone told me thirty minutes a day for thirty days can literally change your life.
No matter what you’re trying to do.
Cut out sugar for thirty days and you will change.
Eat like a carnivore for thirty days and you will change.
Run one mile a day for a month and you can’t help but change.
So I know that practicing being thankful for thirty minutes a day would change your brain.
I start with lists.
I saw a friend on Facebook show her “gratitude journal.”
She writes down a list every single night before she goes to bed.
Her penmanship is awesome and reminds me of a note she wrote to me in 9th or 10th grade.
One of those check yes or no notes.
I checked yes.
I haven’t kept up with a journal of things I am grateful for, though I like the idea.
It’s like my evolving to do list, a physical reminder.
Maybe I’ll add it to my goals for next year.
Keeping up with every blessing in my life.
That might be a long novel though.
One I hope to become a favorite and reread often.

Love the list idea, but….
what I really dislike is so many authors calling novellas “books”, or even worse “novels”. If I want to read a short story, at least tell me up front that is what it is! Anything under 200 pages just whets my appetite (if it’s good), and becomes a downer once done. Please be honest. If the “book” is just a taste of the series, let me know. Maybe I’ll try it anyway, and then I’d buy actual books in the same series. But if each is just a snippet- give me full sets so I can absorb a full story.
