The birds are back.
I wrote last year about how the numbers seemed smaller.
And wondered about bird flu.
Or harsh weather.
Now, the bush, tree and flower bed outside of the window are aflutter with activity.
Fine feathered friends doing what they do.
Establishing a pecking order.
Trilling songs.
All under the watchful eye of a Shitzu and a Cockapoo.
It reminds me I need to mow.
Next week.
I have a moral objection to mowing before April.
But warmer weather is here because spring is a time of renewal and rebirth.
Which is a good time to change things up.
Like getting in summer shape.
Or making some small adjustments to movement and eating for a longer term change.
And changes on both business fronts.
Like going wide with all books on all platforms, which is an adjustment.
And building out the store for straight sales.
Plus plans that include a whole lot more.
The to do list got updated too, with more home improvement projects lined up for me to put off.
I am the goldilocks of painting the eaves.
This day is too hot.
This day is too cold.
It has to be just right to break out the ladder, and lay the canvas and climb the ladder and teeter with a bucket and brush for the color du jour.
Or season.
I did see someone stain a brick wall with wood stain and though it looked tedious and time consuming, the result was pretty cool.
We have brick, faded from sunshine and time and grime in the air from cars on the road and smoke and schmutz.
And a hundred things to do at the computer.
All good reason to focus and dial in and keep it going.
What did “the man” say?
Miles to go before I sleep?
More like miles to go when I wake up.
Books to read, videos to watch, videos to make, stories to write, and a constant round robin of putting it out there.
Baseball to watch, and practice to advise because one should never say no to a kid who asks to play catch, even if he’s only throwing with his left arm and you spend more time chasing the ball than catching it.
Because that time will pass faster than spring.
Each mile filled with so much to do that even “relaxation” must be scheduled.
Which feels okay too, because some of those adjustments planned and made have the side effect of increasing energy.
An all beef diet will change your life.
Try it. Get rid of everything processed and just eat meat for a month.
Energy needed because spring is springing and summer is coming and time is flying.
Like robins coming home to roost.
