It's 9AM
Labor Day
I’ve a lot to say about September and 30 Day Goals.
And if ever there was a month in need of a big hairy goal that’s brand new and make you tingle in the dingle bits
This month is it.
All the changes of the past few weeks have left me feeling listless
A bunch of sucker punches and gut punches and you should have expected this punches
Words to remind me of a few things
Like, I am my own worst enemy
My own worst critic
and Fuck ‘em
The critics, the enemy, those voices between the ears that whisper in the dark
The ones that say the words aren’t enough, the ideas aren’t good enough, that kindness isn’t working and you need to go back
Go back to moving on
Except…
I’m inspired
Can you imagine that for just a moment
The world I built is crashing around me like a hole in the sand
Shoring up one wall and the waves and the world and the grit keep sliding down another
Yet…
Inspiration and hope flicker like a light in the storm
I think this is the value in having been in the shit before, been through the shit before
If not this shite, then shite just like it
The best way to get through it
Duck your head and keep on keepin’ on
Thirty days is a good way to build that grit
A callus on the mind, tough spots where the voices knock and scream and rage and can’t get past the sweat and hurt and consistency
Running. Writing. Making. Doing.
Working. Getting After It.
I’ve got a long list of big to do’s, all aimed at the same thing.
I’ve got thirty gallons of jet fuel in the form of java to fuel the engine.
And I’ve got you with me to prime the pump.
Thirty Days
A great time to practice, to build and enforce new habits
30 Days to be made again
Not whole though
I know enough that holes in the soul take a lot longer time to heal and a lot more beer to fill than thirty days will allow
But damn if all the practice ain’t a good start
