I’m not sure how you could do this.
But every year, Starbucks and McDonalds and almost every other big corporation asks you to round up for charity.
Or to leave your change in a charity box.
The signs say stuff like, “it’s for the children.”
And since we love kids, and want to help them, especially kids with cancer, we give millions.
Pennies from us instead of heaven.
Now McDonalds and Starbucks adds all your round ups with all the other round ups.
And they add them up.
Then they make a donation to said charity.
After writing it off on their taxes.
That’s right.
Big Corporations with record profits use our money to make a donation to lower their taxes.
They use you to pay less money.
Which, if you know big corps, is par for the course.
Except…
It doesn’t feel right, once you know.
Like knowing Congress takes money from Facebook/Meta while voting to ban Tik Tok or force them to sell…
To an Investment Company owned by former Congress members.
It feels icky.
Icky is not a good feeling when it comes to Congress or Corporate Trust.
But that’s what we have.
I don’t mind Corporations making donations from their profits.
That’s the way the law works and I take advantage of it as written as much as I can.
I show revenue, then deduct expenses and pay tax on what remains.
Some years, what remains is in the negative and I get a loss showing.
All nice and legal and written by those same folks who want to ban an app, one of 472 Chinese Apps available in the app store on phones built in China.
Phones we know can track, listen and record us, because they do and have.
I mean, how many times have you had a conversation with friends and then opened up Facebook to get an ad for what you just discussed.
Or even better, had a thought, never said it out loud, and opened up to find it advertised.
This just happened to me last week for a concrete slab.
Thought about adding one to a spot to expand the garage. Never said it out loud, never measured it, just thought it.
And I’m pretty sure I didn’t think it out loud.
Then Facebook showed me a company here that does free bids for Concrete slabs.
So saying we’re banning one app for security while the other is reading our thoughts seems…
Less than charitable.
Maybe a Venti Latte would make me feel better about it.
I wonder if there’s a coupon in the app.

At first I was all for banning tik Tok but after hearing someone explain to me that Facebook and some of the other apps are doing the same things. I have changed my mind. No w it looks like members of Congress are trying to ban it so they can buy the company out from under them. I hope I am wrong about this but that is what it looks like.
