I sent out Bridgehead today to the upgraded subscriber group.
It’s book two in the Beachhead series, which continues the adventures of LT and his ragtag squad of soldiers fighting against an invading alien army.
It ain’t easy, but it’s got to be done.
Upgraded subscribers get at least one free book each week, plus more bonus content, plus a serial that started today AND I’m always thinking of “value adds.”
Just for your consideration.
Yesterday’s pondering about adventure has me thinking about the lack therof in my life.
A few years ago, you could find me plotting, planning or executing some feat that would leave most people shaking their heads.
Run a hundred miles? Are you crazy?
Run a bunch of marathons in a row? Are you crazy?
Row down the Mississippi River? Are you crazy?
Hike from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean then down to Key West? Are you crazy?
There are more.
Some well executed, some well started and some put on a back burner because “so much focus on yourself is selfish.”
Most of it was physical, sure, but I also set out to build a bunch of books on Amazon, which I did.
And lost.
For now.
I built a Youtube channel, which I did.
And it’s going well.
But the sense of adventure, the call of the wild is echoing from the bluffs and cliffs and trails in the Arkansasauna heat.
The rustle in the bushes are where the wild things are, and I want to go play with them.
So let’s plan something.
First, let’s talk about the business side of being a writer/author/entrepreneur.
I want back on Amazon or bring in a new LLC to start anew on Amazon.
Complain as I like about their lack of customer service to me specifically, they are the world’s largest seller of books, and dominate the space.
So July brings a renewed effort to get someone to listen, and/or open a new publisher account (LLC, EIN, etc) and start new series on the platform.
It means the 60 plus books I have from before can’t go into that mix until it’s all sorted, and sorted may take time.
Lucky for us, I’ve got brand new stuff that could go.
Just under a pen name.
And those 60 other titles can go wide, which gives another basket to place the eggs in.
Plus, from another selfish adventure perspective, Amazon is just easy because I’ve done it so much.
A couple of clicks and wam, bam, thank you darling.
Amazon also opens up audible for new titles, and finding narrators, easier.
So July is back to Amazon (new) while still working to find a human to merge it with the (old).
We’re adventuring on Youtube too with the existing channel growing, and adding a few more channels.
Classic cars, starting with The Great Road Race on Tuesday, plus more.
A second story channel using AI animation for classic books and that dang cooking channel I’ve been talking to you about for years.
Let’s pull the trigger on that one and get it going, what say?
You will, of course, be invited to them all, and get to pick, choose and subscribe as you wish.
But you may not like eating, or driving or being entertained until your sides split from laughing!
And that’s okay, because life is all about a variety of choices.
Read it. Or Watch it. Or listen to it. Or ignore it.
All viable and awesome choices.
The next adventure in the mix involves something we’ve talked about before too.
I’ve got a deal in the works to buy a couple of derelict properties in my dying hometown (houses under $10k?!? they’re going to need a lot of work.)
The deal is structured so that the money is due at closing and we’ve got access to the houses before then to inspect, repair and make habitable.
(and film, and document, and decide…)
I know what I want to do with these, but I have to have a back end team to make some of it happen.
This gets me a little excited, and when I think about doing the hard work, it reminds me of Jake Burbank.
I’m trying to avoid Pint of Problem stories so I can concentrate on The Marshal of Magic and getting new books finished about him.
I think First Rodeo will be done in July (under a new title though), with at least one book a month between now and Christmas, plus a few others to get ready for The Twelve Days of Christmas.
And don’t forget, IT’S 9AM is going out every weekday between now and February of 2024, as a personal challenge.
That’s a lot of memory for us to remember and for us to build together.
I’ve also got a week long tourney in Mississippi that I’ll only get to attend for two days (because of the JOB and boarding the dogs)
And a trip to Houston to play in an All Star Invitational (which is scheduled off and dogs boarded).
Mix in a couple of daytime kayak trips, some mountain biking on new trails in NWA and West LR, plus a meeting with the development and planning commissioner in Pine Bluff to start the process of trail building in Regional Park as a tourist draw. (a start the ball rolling kind of mission)
Is it any wonder I talk so much about time and how I feel it.
Ambition is an adventure all it’s own, and though it is not an Everest Summit or even an all day run, building a business back is fun.
And you’re part of it.

Share the newsletter and keep commenting.
Upgrade if you’re able, but also know that It’s 9AM is still coming at you on the daily.
And pray.
I probably could use lots of that, because all these projects require good management and check in and double checking touch points.
My biggest part of the adventure besides ass in seat and fingers on the keys will probably be phone calls and emails.
And checklists.
I think all my practice making lists is going to come through!
Have a great Saturday.
