It seems so simple.
But then, it always does.
Backwards planning.
Set the objective or goal.
Outline the steps backwards from the goal.
Then start.
At the beginning.
And for me, it’s providing entertainment.
Sometimes that’s books.
Or stories on a website.
Sometimes it’s audiobooks you can hear for free.
Often it’s links to other books and every so often a video from my life.
That’s the beginning.
Which is how It’s 9AM got started.
A way to connect with you every day.
A way to let you know what I’m working on, what’s being planned and my thought process behind what is going on.
That includes putting books out for free. Sometimes.
It includes letting you know when a book is ready to be bought.
Sometimes.
It involves talking about small town USA, what it was like to grow up in a different era.
Coming home when the streetlights turned on.
Drinking water from a rubber hose.
And learning how to homestead from depression era Grandparents who remembered what it was like to have nothing and make do.
I’ve talked about running long distance, and put some of my past in the stories you read.
I’ve talked about starting new businesses, so we’ve sort of evolved beyond a normal author/reader relationship.
That’s this newsletter.
Evolving.
We’ve tried a few things.
They didn’t work.
We’ve tried more things.
Some didn’t work.
But when the plan goes off the rail, there’s only one thing to do.
Pull up your bootstraps and buckle up.
I’m still examining what that means.
And how to implement it.
We have a weekend full of nasty weather on the way.
It’s got a cool name, ARTIC HAMMER
Which sounds like a thriller novel.
Maybe that goes on the list.
Way down.
But snow and ice in a state that loses it’s mind below 0 means time to think.
Time to see what the data suggests.
Time to plan.
And wonder if it’s time for something new.
Or renewed.
