It's 9AM
The critics line up every morning at 9:00...
I have a million ideas.
Or maybe a few more.
I practice writing down ten ideas each and every day.
Sometimes it’s a list of ways to improve an old business.
Sometimes it’s a brand new plot for a sci-fi adventure.
I do it because it trains the brain to be solutions-oriented.
But here is the hard truth about ideas.
They are easy.
Execution is where the actual work happens.
I have boxes of typed documents, floppy discs, and hundreds of notebooks scrawled with story ideas, business plans, and roadmaps.
Sitting.
Waiting.
And an idea sitting in a notebook doesn’t change the world.
It doesn’t even change your day.
You can get caught up in the planning phase forever.
I know I do.
I love building roadmaps to objectives.
But planning is not the same as doing.
The planning and the deciding is just a way to feel busy without actually being productive.
Busy is the enemy,
sometimes.
I had a professor in college who told me my writing wasn’t realistic.
When I moved to LA to pitch scripts, I was told “no” more times than I can count.
It’s easy to listen to the critics.
To Monday morning quarterbacks who sit on the sidelines and tell you why your big idea will never work.
But critics don’t build anything.
They just tear things down.
We live in a world full of them.
Critics outnumber builders by 10,000 to 1
Maybe 100,000 to 1
Or even 1M to 1
If you listen to them, your ideas will stay locked in those notebooks forever.
You have to reduce the friction between the idea and the execution.
If you want to start a business, start it.
If you want to write a book, write it.
You don’t need a gatekeeper to open the drawbridge and let you in anymore.
It takes discipline.
That old fashioned, roll-up-your-sleeves, ass-in-seat grit.
You don’t have to fix the whole year in a single day.
We all want it “Mo-Bettah-Fastah!”
But massive success comes from the cumulative effect of little things done daily.
If you can get just one percent better every day,
you build a massive compound effect.
Consistency creates excellent habits.
So take one of your big ideas today.
Just one.
Don’t worry about the perfect plan,
or what the critics might say.
Just start.
$20 for 25 Sci-Fi Adventures? (Normally $75)
Hey,
Earlier this week, I told you some big things were changing. Here’s the update:
- A brand new sci-fi story channel (classics + fresh tales) goes live next week. I’ll send the link so you don’t miss a thing.
- I also dropped two new novels recently: Dredge and Humanoid Robot Soldier
But forget buying those separately for a second.
I’m building something ridiculous:
a MASSIVE boxset packed with 25 full sci-fi action adventures.
We’re talking:
Moon Men • Super Secret Space Mission
The Herd Shot Around the World (Bovine Bloodbath #1)
High Steaks (#2) • Phalanx – Invasion Earth
Beachhead • Bridgehead • Lodgement
Ultima Thule • Enfilade • Dust Off • Snakebit
The Dipole Shield • Planet 9 • Lunar Hustle
All Jacked Up • Love Machine • UnAss
SNAFU • FUBAR • Temporary Merc
Backwoods Station • Epoch • Era • Eon
Military sci-fi? Check.
Comedy with alien invaders? You bet.
Sarcastic heroes and laser fire? All day.
These books normally sell for $2.99 each—that’s $75 if you bought them one by one.
But to celebrate the new YouTube channel and a summer back to basics (military & comedy sci-fi), I’m doing something stupidly generous:
$20 for the entire boxset.
That’s less than a dollar per book.
This offer dies Sunday. Friday–Sunday only. Then it’s back to $2.99 each or $9.99 per smaller boxset.
You want action, laughs, alien invasions, and cows back from abductions?
