There’s an old saying.
You reap what you sow.
So sow so many seeds you can’t help but reap a bounty.
Which is why I’ve got close to fifty free short stories you can check out on MEDIUM now.
They did an update so I get to control the paywall for what gets seen, and for you, the gate is open.
On shorts.
On some novellas.
And on novels.
The hope is the sowing will excite enough for further support, in the form of buying more books or upgrading substack.
But I’m not just relying on that.
Because of numbers.
And the numbers for this type of sowing is close to farming.
It makes me glad papaw and mamaw taught me about planting.
About watering and squarecrows or why we only used pie plates tied to strings, but the flashing and fluttering still did the job.
The sowing goes beyond just this daily newsletter though.
It’s on the social channels, which in theory is supposed to increase reach, but requires a level of dedication I haven’t been able to reach.
Yet.
The enemy of all things is time.
Writing about magical Sheriff’s patrolling the border of a Magic Reservation takes time.
Outlining a vengeful assassin hunting the bad men in the world eats the clock.
Helping a Dad infiltrate a Texas compound in search of stolen supplies requires planning and aforethought.
Lots of aforethought.
Plus the day to day of trying to sell something to pay a bill, and cook dinner, and clean house and make videos and schedule and mow and plan to grow.
So you can sow.
Lucky for me, I know a few shortcuts.
Simple actions to cut through the slog of time.
Someone told me social media application at scale would cut through the slog of time faster than anything.

As a matter of fact, go watch BULLET BAIT on Youtube and click SUBSCRIBE so you see all the free uploads there.
Some folks will say, “I’m not on social media” which is fine.
Others will say, “I’m staying away until after Nov 2024” which is great.
But to me, it’s like folks who like reading sci fi also seeing that I write urban fantasy, or people who only read thrillers scanning the blurbs for westerns.
Just pick and choose what you like.
Because in a garden, you may not like red peppers or okra, so you don’t have to eat it.
Stick to pumpkins and melons and tomatoes.
You get to choose.
On social, on the store, and heck, just about everything in your life.
You have so much control.
It’s the time factor we’re most concerned with.
These last three months are the biggest of the year, so it only makes sense to double down on building the site and visitors to it up.
But…
It also makes sense to work on some of the action items I alluded to yesterday, regarding the growth in and around PB for the GTL plant.
And try to make inroads on the backroads around Magnolia, where the new lithium plant is being planned.
Not to buy land, good lord no. A lot of it was bought by the Legislature before they approved the plans.
The idea was that selling enough books would free up time to shift focus, but we’re still a few months away from reaching that level.
Amazon made sure of that.
But, if you are planting a garden, then you know that timing can be a factor in that as well.
What’s the solution?
I’ve got one.
I’ll share that plan with you later this week.
Right now, today, the focus is words.

And adding another book to Kobo and Apple and Barnes and Noble.
BTW, Barnes and Noble is the most complicated upload process that just eats at the clock! Say what you will about the Zon, it was simple.
I can give you a quick update on Apple audiobooks. I got into their program for auto AI narration for books and it seems to be going well. I can’t pay the electric bill with it yet, but I can buy some beer. In 90 days when it pays out.
I also outlined a new sci fi series for next year that I think will rock your world, if you are into military science fiction, plus planned additions to each existing series.
See, I just saved myself some time later. Now I don’t have to update you on Dipole or Beachhead or Invasions!
