The interesting thing is the hand written business plan.
From 1996.
I found it on a legal pad in a box when I was looking through some old stories.
Cabinwood.
Four acres in the Ozark mountains with great views.
Meandering paths to secluded one room cabins with special features that would make them unique.
A deck with a hotub on the edge of a bluff.
An A Frame with a glass wall ceiling.
A firepit with a view.
It was basically an AirBnB property before such things existed.
I remember talking to my ex about it and how I was going to fund it.
She said she’d rather have a lake house on Hamilton down in Hot Springs.
It was by her parents.
She talked me out of one and into another and that’s how the notepad ended up in the box with a bunch of stories that never got published.
Until this year.
I wonder how many ideas/plans and/or great concepts people get talked out from listening to the right people at the wrong time.
I mean, I couldn’t go against the wishes of my partner in time.
But if I had listened to my gut instinct, who knows what could have happened.
I don’t dwell on the miss though.
I’ve had plenty of misses in life.
Even that Mrs.
It does highlight something I struggle with though.
I put so much intel into my mushy mind, from reading, to listening, to asking questions and watching and consuming-
That my gut instinct is pretty good.
Except when I ignore it.
Which I do.
On the advice of people who are close to me.
I listen to them, instead of me.
Sometimes.
Which can make the gut instinct get wobbly.
Woozy.
Slack from lack of practice.
Until I run across a page from the past that reminds me.
