Look man, I can complain about all that’s wrong in this country-
And trust me, there’s a lot
And a lot that could be cured by arresting, and prosecuting and deporting to Angola every single member of Congress and every lobby group
Which is not my first thought, because piling those criminals into the back of C-130’s and landing them in the jungle would cost a lot of taxpayer dollars
My first thought was a .22 cent solution, unless the Pentagon billed for it
And then that two dime two penny answer would be invoiced at $132 dollars
Each
But before we deport or depart anyone, let’s take a moment to realize
The corruption now isn’t anything new
This country has been corrupt since just about the beginning
And yet
If you have been to Angola or South Africa or Ethiopia or over in the Central America’s and Mexico
You will very quickly come to know
As bad as it is, it is the best of all options
Better than the top ten Western countries, better than China and Russia by far
Despite the flaws, most of us get to do exactly what we want, when we want, with who we want
So long as who we want wants to do things back to us
Yeah man, I could tell you everything that’s wrong with this awful amazing country
Except-
Anyone can do that. Anyone can spend their energy and time highlighting all the bad things that they think or parrot from the news of their choice
Until they realize that outside of gas prices and grocery prices, the vast majority of all those things wrong don’t have an impact on their day to day
Maybe this country is like the loves of my life
‘Murica. I choose to love her. I know she’s got issues, but, what 249 year old woman doesn’t?!?
Hell man, we all got issues.
Like they say, freedom ain’t free, and you got to take some of the bad if you want the good
cause nobody’s perfect
Except the ideal
What did I say to you guys once? Work every day toward perfection, knowing you can never attain it.
You’ll never feel satisfied, but you’ll be a little bit better every day.
I’d like to think that for the 250th birthday, we’ll do more of that.
LFG!
AND if you are not in America, chances are I have been to your country (not Australia, it’s on the list) and I found two things I loved: amazing people and beer.
Let’s hope your 4th is filled with both.
Halfway through June and I made a promise
to me
You know I’m an advocate for staying strong as you add more miles to the chassis
the number one contributor to an infirm old age
is lack of strength and muscle in the body
Study after study tells me to stay strong
So that if I live long, and I plan to be here til 104, at least I’ll be mobile
And mobility is a good thing
Walking. Hiking. Being in the sun.
These are the secrets that we’ve known for 10,000 years
Now a Dr. will tell you, it’s drugs
But what she will not tell you is that she is paid to push those drugs
A smart Dr. will tell you it’s diet
But what he will not tell you is another secret
Grow your own veggies, save up and order a grass fed cow from a local farm, butchered and frozen in your freezer
Eat smaller portions
Drink filtered water
Walk every day
And if the studies are right, lift heavy to be stronger
Which is a promise I broke to me because I skipped the gym
I thought/hoped/planned that doing push ups and air squats would be enough
That running for long distance in the hot sun would be enough
But as I looked at the man in the mirror, I saw some changes I didn’t like
So it was back to the gym for this boy
And I’ve been steady at it, destroying my muscles to rebuild them
Still in the sun too
And still doing the squats and push ups
Add on yard work and the 110 degrees in the shade feels like temp
And it’s a combo
That makes me a sore boy
Pecs? Sore.
Back? Sore.
Legs. Dear Lord, so sore.
Shoulders, arms, triceps, bottom of my feet.
The only thing that doesn’t hurt are my private parts, and that’s strictly a lack of workout thing.
They don’t want you doing dangle work at Planet Fitness
Apparently it offends some people
So at least I’ve got that going for me
All the rest though?
Sore.
I’ve upped my water intake, but I have to make sure I’m pushing fluids fast
I lost 8 lbs working outside after a run on Sunday
And it wiped me out for a couple of days
Not so much I skipped the gym
Or the next day’s run
It just made me sore all over and tired and a little bit sleepless
Except…
I’ve added creatine to the mix along with peptides
Now peptides are just branch chain amino acids, and you can get them from eating right
By right, I mean food that has not been created in a factory
Wheat thins are my absolute favorite snack cracker with hummus
But they are made in a factory and not that great for you
How do you know if something isn’t good for you?
If the word “enriched” is in the ingredients, it’s not great
It might taste great, it might look good, it might make you feel good
But so do some of the drugs that doctor prescribes
I don’t do drugs
Unless you count aspirin
I do supplements though, especially when the heat makes me not want to eat, and I’m shedding magnesium and potassium and sweating so much salt streaks crust my clothes
So let me give you a little testimonial about the Creatine and Peptides combo:
I mix 5g in my coffee of each, and I don’t feel as sore the second day.
If you’ve worked out before, you know the second day is usually the worst for pain/aches.
Over the past few weeks, the second day for me, I’m still sore, but usually in a new part of the body that I worked out the day before
The two day part?
Not as sore.
I say as sore, because there is a huge load difference between my bodyweight and the controlled muscle group lifts
I don’t expect to recover so fast I feel no pain in this phase
But…
I’m reminded of when I was training for 100 mile races
I read a lot about “active recovery” which is putting as much emphasis on healing the micro-tears in muscle fibers as you do in breaking them down
So a long run day would be followed by a long walk day
And sauna, which releases growth hormones into the bloodstream (I can’t recall why, but I read it, and it was science backed)
Followed by more running, slower, on the second day
What I didn’t do back then, was add creatine to the mix
It is a classic case of I wish I knew then, what I know now
And if you are planning to age at all
And want to age well,
Then take some advice from a guy who doesn’t care about staying young
But damn sure wants to feel young and act young as the wrinkles pile on and the hair piles off
Start exploring your supplementation, and add to your mix
There is no magic pill, but there is a combination of supplements that may work some magic on your body
At least that’s how it feels for mine
Here’s my list:
Creatine
Peptides
Methyline Blue
Aspirin
One gallon + of water (add lemon or lime)
Plus:
My normal grocery list:
Coffee
Greek Yogurt
Cottage Cheese
3-4 eggs daily
Chicken
Tuna
Beef
Milk
Butter
Peanut Butter
Coconut Oil
Cocoa powder
Quick oats
I go out to eat when I feel like it (usually) and I don’t deny myself the occasional treats (milkshakes, beer,)
If I do go out to eat, I try to adjust calories down or fast for 18 hours (before or after).
I have fasted for as long as 72 hours before, and think/plan on doing one of those again soon. I’d like to do a 48 hour fast (weekend) every 3 months.
(a long fast has shown to supercharge cellular reproduction and I’d like to see how it works with meth blue (because it’s supposed to impact cell reproduction))
Do you know who Alex Hormozi is?
He’s a gym owner turned content creator who is borrowing a playbook from Gary Vee.
Gary is a mentor of mine, if you’ve been with me awhile, you know I talk a lot about advice he offers that I don’t take.
Because…
I’m scared? I’m busy? I’m afraid of what you’ll think or say or do?
All of the above, none of the above?
Anyway, I like to let Gary be the bellweather for what I should have done and also turn it into a promise of:
When he says “Do this” the next time, I will.
Well, he said, “Do this” this time, and I am.
I’ll tell you more about that on Monday after the holiday.
Alex is doing a new book launch, so if you:
Have a business
Want to have a business
Are interested in business
Want to know more about how some biz works
Behind the scenes stuff just because you like to know things
Or have a general interest altogether
Then join me in watching him do it. Best of all, it’s FREE!
