Reading the emails IS totally free and does not require a SUBSTAK account. Perhaps consider that the author spends a LOT of time crafting stories..but in today’s market, that’s not enough - a business must keep their customers entertained/informed/ interested. Authors have a particular gift to weave stories we love, but they must also figure more Tech that we can imagine, have covers made with details about colors, fonts, title placement, catchy subtitle, proofreading, keep word count in check, double check plot lines and character factoids, worry about when & where & how to publish. So supporting our favorite authors is a cherished tradition and very appreciated. Your concerns about one of the ‘machines’ that helps our beloved author could perhaps be laid at a different doorstep, that of the ‘machine’. Our author doesn’t require you to pay… you CAN read for free these lovely daily journals. But if you want to keep up with all releases and subscriber give-always, then your concerns are with the ‘machine’.
